Paper Balloon (Kamifusen) | Japanese paper balloon
Blow gently, tap softly and watch it float!
The Paper Balloon, known in Japan as Kamifusen, is a traditional paper balloon made of washi paper. This toy has been around since the 1920s and was originally made by fishermen's wives. The paper is made of 100% wood pulp, making it a fun and more sustainable alternative to plastic balloons. Suitable for children, but also for adults.
Because the balloon is fragile, you can use it to demonstrate how gently you can move. This makes it particularly suitable for home, in the classroom, and during therapy.

What does the Paper Balloon stimulate?
- Force regulation: holding and tapping gently without squeezing too hard
- Oral motor skills: controlled blowing to inflate the balloon
- Gross motor skills: making the balloon 'fly', moving, and catching it
- Hand-eye coordination: following and catching the balloon
- Impulse control: staying calm and waiting for your turn
- Perseverance: trying again if the balloon hits the floor, because it behaves very differently from what you are used to

By repeating the game often, movements such as blowing, tapping, and picking it up carefully become increasingly fluid.

A simple balloon with a special story. The Paper Balloon makes playing with gentle force and calm movements fun, for all ages.
